Low Back Pain Physical Therapy in Morristown, VT

Stop Managing It. Start Solving It.

People come to us when low back pain keeps interrupting training, work, or everyday life — and they're tired of stretches that don't stick. We find what's driving it and build a plan that actually addresses it, one-on-one, every session.

What Happens When Back Pain Goes Unaddressed

The Pain Keeps Coming Back

Rest and stretching may quiet symptoms temporarily, but without addressing the root cause — movement patterns, load tolerance, or tissue restrictions — the pain returns every time activity picks back up. The cycle continues until something changes.

You Start Avoiding the Things You Love

Cutting out hiking, lifting, or long days on your feet feels manageable at first. Over time, those workarounds become permanent. Back pain has a way of quietly shrinking your world if you don't get in front of it.

Small Issues Become Bigger Problems

Compensating around low back pain changes how you move. Over weeks and months, that shifts load onto hips, knees, and shoulders. What started in one place spreads — and the window to address it cleanly gets smaller.

Common Conditions We Treat

What We Help People Work Through

Low back pain shows up in many forms. We see active adults, desk workers, athletes, and outdoor enthusiasts dealing with a range of issues that all land in the same place — pain that's limiting what they can do.

Persistent low back pain with no clear cause

Sciatica and radiating pain into the leg — people come to us when nerve symptoms are limiting sitting, walking, or standing for any length of time.

Disc-related back pain — including those managing disc herniations or bulges that are keeping them out of training or daily activity.

Low back pain in active adults and athletes who need to return to lifting, running, or sport — not just get out of pain.

Back pain related to desk work, prolonged sitting, or postural load that builds through the work week.

Low back pain in the prenatal and postpartum period — addressed with appropriate load management and core sequencing.

Recurring back pain in aging active adults who want to stay strong and capable for the long term.

What Our Patients Say

Hear from people who came in with low back pain and left with a clear plan — and the ability to do what they came here to get back to.

I’m so grateful for the care I received at Stowe Physical Therapy, specifically from Kat Dwyer. Last year, I came in with persistent hip pain that had been painful for months, and over the course of several visits she created a thoughtful, highly personalized plan of stretches and strengthening exercises that addressed the root of the issue. Kat has a wonderful way of explaining what’s going on in the body and how each movement supports healing. Beyond her expertise, I simply enjoyed spending time with her as a person. I've been pain-free for seven months now. Highly recommend!

I have worked with Kat and Heidi at their previous locations, and and have always found their therapy and advice to be tremendously helpful in my rehabilition from knee and shoulder injuries. More recently, Sara has guided my recovery from a herniated disc, vastly improving my mobility while reducing the pain, and educating me on self-treatment resources. You can't get better treatment anywhere else! Thanks, Dana Wehe

I have had several different sessions with Heidi at Stowe PTP and they have all been excellent! The facility is full of a wide variety of equipment, and the place is immaculate. All of the therapists are wonderful and take the time to help their clients learn all the necessary movements/exercises to improve range of motion and recovery from injuries. They offer on line exercises as well as a variety of thing to work at in the studio. I would highly recommend Stowe Physical Therapy & Pilates, PLLC

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about low back pain PT at Stowe Physical Therapy & Pilates in Morristown, VT.

Do I need a referral to come in for low back pain?

No referral needed. Vermont is a direct access state, so you can schedule directly without seeing a physician first. We'll do a thorough evaluation on your first visit and build a plan from there.

How is this different from what I've tried before?

Every session is one-on-one with your physical therapist — no aides, no shared time. We spend a full hour with you each visit, focusing on what’s actually driving your pain rather than cycling through a generic protocol. We also use dry needling when it’s the right fit.

Do you take insurance?

We're cash-based — no insurance required. We can provide superbills for possible reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits. Many patients find the one-on-one model saves time and gets better results than insurance-driven care.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on what we find. Most people dealing with low back pain start to notice meaningful change within a few sessions. We'll give you a clear picture after your evaluation — no open-ended commitments.

Can I keep training while working through back pain?

Often, yes. We work with active adults who want to stay moving. We'll help you understand what's safe to keep doing, what to modify, and how to load progressively so you're building durability — not just resting through it.

Still have questions?

Not sure if this is the right fit? Reach out and we'll help you figure out the best next step for what you're dealing with.
